There’s just no point in pining for good biking conditions. It’s winter. And it is snowing. Snowing a lot, even here in the lowlands. It tends to do that in winter. So I will just have to go with the flow. Snow it will have to be for me. Time to head for the slopes.

A break in the clouds

For the first time in years I am back skiing. Just a short trip on sunday afternoon up into the black forest. Considering that it has been so long I was surprised at how quickly I was back parallel turning. OK, if I’m honest then the turns on the steeper slopes were more like well meaning “lurches”, with quite a bit of luck that I never actually crossed skis and crashed. Good fun, even on the short runs. No need to worry too much about condition.

Was it faster to walk?

Now I think that maybe I will try out snowboarding. It just looks so cool. It would be great to be able to do it. I’ll probably end up breaking the other shoulder in the process but you just have to take risks to have fun. Quite a dramatic turn about to the “me” of a year ago. We’ll see if I’m still so chirpy after my first painful attempts. Hey, crashing off a snowboard onto snow has got to be less painful than crashing off a mountainbike. Right?
