The school holidays are drawing to a close which finds me back at the camping grounds at Steinach to pick up my youngest and her bike. I wanted to make the best of the two mornings that would give me to explore further the valleys and hills in this part of the Kinzig valley. As usual, I would be up and on my wheels by 6 AM. I was up bright and early again this morning and set off up the Fischerbach, this time on the other side of the Kinzig. It was a 30km tour, climbing to 637 meters to Nillhöhe, where you have a panoramic view of the surrounding valleys. Since I’m connected via a slow dialup connection at the moment, the pictures will have to wait.

I spent some time thinking about where to go next. It needed to be suitable for a road bike since finding out half way there that your road has become pebbles tends to dampen the spirit of the moment. There is a long distance bike trail marked on the map and part of it runs up the next valley to where I am. This stream is called Mühlenbach as is the bloody great big valley it has spent the last few million years carving out.
